Washington Whirlwind

Not the greatest pictures in the world, but we were so on-the-move, I'm lucky I got any at all.
From the second we arrived in Washington, D.C., it was go, go, go.
After hastily checking in to our beautiful hotel, a group of us hustled a few blocks over to the National Archives and saw the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution. We then hoofed it back to our hotel for a quick change before trotting over to Union Station, just a block from our hotel. Our nighttime monument tour departed from Union Station, which you'd think must be rather annoying for actual travelers who need to get places without trolleys and double-decker buses everywhere.
The night tour was absolutely perfect. A just-barely-cool warm breeze wafted in through the open sides of the trolley and dusk fell gently as we made our way around the historic city.
We saw everything you could hope to see on a monument tour and it was really quite lovely. I had only been to D.C. once, and I was probably five, so all I remember is my pb&j being on flatbread.
Rocked my world.
The tour brought some much-needed calmness and I think was really the perfect way to see all the monuments D.C. has to offer.

The next day a few of us did a crazy amount of walking. We started at our hotel and ended up at the Lincoln Memorial-basically the two ends of the map. But we got to see Ford's Theater, the house where Lincoln died, a portion of the homeless population, a Zara, which I passed sadly, the White House, numerous sketchy azz food trucks, the WWII memorial, the Vietnam Wall, and the inside of a taxi, which we thankfully took back.
