how to feel content

Wake up to a text from your best friend telling you she is ready when you are for the farmer's market.
Buy produce that was grown in the same state as you.
Let her witness your grief.
Read your favorite childhood summer book. Lay on the floor, stretch your body until you feel the rush of blood through your newly opened hips. Meditate so deep you enjoy a lucid nap.
Take a shower, do your makeup, choose an outfit that makes you feel like you are on vacation.
Meet your other best friend at your favorite restaurant. Sit at the bar, take your time choosing a mocktail, order the castelfranco raddichio salad with citrus dressing and alpine cheese blend. Eat the elote pasta that is the whole reason you came. Notice the pink sky outside the window, how it gently glows behind the palm tree silhouettes.
Go the grocery store and walk around for fun, leisurely perusing natural face creams and books about gut health, then get kicked out when they close at 8:36pm. Go to another grocery store for more fun. Feel the summer air against your skin as you say goodbye in the parking lot, clutching your organic peanut butter and Bulgarian yogurt and spinach.
Drive home.
